Lucy & Conor’s Vibrant Wedding at The Free Company, Balerno
Oh, what a day! Lucy and Conor’s wedding at The Free Company in Balerno was the perfect blend of love, laughter, and vibrant colours—basically, the kind of day every wedding photographer dreams of. From the very beginning, this day was an absolute blast, starting with the getting-ready moments at the gorgeous Cockburn House, which set the tone for the rest of the celebration.
Lucy and Conor got ready surrounded by their nearest and dearest. Lucy was pampered by the amazing team at Nicole Jane Hair and Makeup, who worked their magic on Lucy and her bridesmaids. The bridal party was looking flawless, and you could feel the excitement in the air. Meanwhile, Conor and the boys were getting decked out by the fine folks at Eight Yards—these guys were sharp.
But let’s talk about that dress, shall we? Lucy looked like a total vision in her Justin Alexander gown. The classic silhouette was the perfect match for her style, and we all know no bridal look is complete without the perfect shoes. Enter Rainbow Club heels, which added just the right touch of elegance and sparkle. Seriously, those shoes! 💫
Okay, let’s talk about the flowers, because wow—the floral team at Ochre Botanical Studios absolutely nailed it. They created these beautiful wildflower bouquets in soft creams, whites, and blushes of coral oranges. Each bouquet was like a little piece of sunshine! And the tables? Oh, they were adorned with simple yet stunning tinctures of single flowers, adding that extra dash of whimsy to the reception space. There was something so effortlessly gorgeous about it all.
When it came time for the ceremony, we couldn’t have asked for a better celebrant than Rona the Humanist. Rona has this incredible ability to keep things light and joyful, while still making everything feel deeply personal. There was so much laughter in the air— the ceremony was an extension of the joy that had already filled the day. And can we talk about the music? Hot Date—what a band! They serenaded everyone during the ceremony, and then kept the energy up all evening long. Those guys are serious party starters.
One of my favourite moments of the day was when Lucy and Conor shared their first look. I swear, first looks are magical. Not only did it allow them to have a quiet, intimate moment together before the hustle and bustle of the ceremony, but it also gave us the chance to capture some gorgeous couple portraits in the soft morning light. It’s always such a beautiful moment to witness, and I’m so glad Lucy and Conor decided to do it.
After that, it was time for a couple of quick photos in The Free Company’s gorgeous wildflower gardens. There’s something about sunset light that makes everything feel a little more romantic, and we totally took advantage of that golden hour glow. It was the perfect time for a few more “smoochy kiss” photographs—though there was a fair amount of chaos (in the best way) when the bridal party joined in for some fun shots too.
Then, the reception kicked off, and it was time to party. Guests sipped drinks, danced, laughed, and partied all night long. Hot Date kept everyone on their feet, and the joy was contagious. It’s honestly one of the best things to witness at a wedding—people just letting go and having the time of their lives.
It was such an honour to be part of Lucy and Conor’s big day. From the emotional moments to the big belly laughs, this wedding had it all. I’m so glad I got to document their beautiful celebration at The Free Company, a venue that was the perfect backdrop to their wild, wonderful love story.
Congratulations, Lucy and Conor! Thank you for letting me capture all these amazing memories—can’t wait to see what’s next for you two!
